Amy + Ross // Columbia Gorge Hotel • Hood River, OR

After a few facetime chats, obsessively discussing their timeline, and getting to discover all kinds of “new” old music from their rad record collection. . . the big day arrived, and I FINALLY met these two in real life.

Ross is in the Army, and these two move around! They’re currently stationed in New York, but decided to come back to their home turf to tie the knot. Like me, these two LOVE vintage errythang. . . They chose the Columbia Gorge Hotel for it’s timeless wonder, and to host all their favorite people under one roof.

It’s not everyday a Gorge bride insists upon getting epic interior shots. Thrilled by this challenge and inspired by the Wes Anderson esthetic of the wallpaper and furniture, we set up some timeless frames that will bogle their grandchildren’s minds. . .

How STUNNING are they?!

Since this was the first time Amy and Ross were gathering with family and close friends, it was important to them to enjoy happy hour and be present for as much as their reception as possible. To accommodate this, we made time to squeeze in family portraits out on the front lawn, before the ceremony. The light falling through the giant trees that day was so beautiful!

Sure, there are certain ways us pros in the industry typically do things — but from where I’m standing, your day is all about YOU. I’m more than happy to make whatever adjustments I need to make sure things go as you wish.

In addition to great music and everything old-timey, these two incorporated tradition that’s been passed down for generations. There were many special Jewish ceremonies that went on throughout the day, and my favorite of all was when Amy circled Ross, seven times before standing under the chuppah. The look on his face is just the sweetest.

They ate a yummy din, cut the cake, indulged in some signature cocktails, and everyone took shots of whiskey out of their shot ski! We also snuck up to the bell tower, and they danced in the last golden light, before the sun set behind the hills in the Gorge.

During the reception, one of the kiddos followed be around taking polaroids of everyone for the guestbook. . . I was lucky to snag a take-home pic with the bride, which now lives on my fridge next to all my FotoBus strips :)

PRO TIP: When you rent out the CGH, you’re allowed to party in the ballroom well after the local noice ordinance! I know this party carried on long after we left.
